Mini Kickers

Background

The Scottish FA, as governing body of our national sport, acknowledges it’s responsibility in this area and has developed the SFA Mini Kickers programme, which provides a curriculum framework for children of three to five years focussing on;

  • basic motor skills

  • emotional, personal and social development

  • cognitive development

All SFA Mini Kickers Coaches are fully trained and are skilled at delivering a range of activities that are both fun and developmental. The coaches appreciate that a knowledge of children is as important as a knowledge of football. The SFA Mini Kickers Programme is run in conjunction with the playgroup/nursery where a set curriculum is delivered by SFA Qualified, Mini Kickers coaches.

The SFA Programme is available over three blocks, from August to December, January to March and April to June. A block consists of ten weeks, divided into three (3-week blocks) where skills are learned and developed, with parents invited to attend and participate in the final week of the programme.

The Scottish FA in partnership with Scottish Borders Council are continuing to work together to make high quality, physical, educational programmes available to schools and schoolchildren throughout the Scottish Borders. This partnership brings an assurance and high standard that your playgroup/nursery can be confident with.

A recent introduction to the SFA Mini Kickers programme, is the SFA holiday coaching courses. Special coaching courses, designed for pre-school children, are delivered throughout the Scottish Borders, giving children their introduction into structured sessions which still retain the fun element from the playgroup/nursery courses. For more information on these courses, please check the SFA Holiday Coaching Courses section.
